What are the requirements?

Students applying for a Belgium Scholarship must be currently studying towards their first degree at an accredited higher education institution within Ireland. Students can hold either a Level 6 Honours Degree or an equivalent qualification (e.g. HETAC Level 8 Certificate, A Levels) but must not have already obtained a Masters Degree. The scholarship covers tuition fees only and students will receive an additional grant of €1,000 per year to cover books and living expenses. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2023 so act now before it’s too late!

Application Deadlines

The deadline for your application is no earlier than October 2023. Applications submitted after April 30 will not be accepted. We will notify you of whether or not you have been selected within 3 months of our receipt of your application. Make sure to add email to your address book or safe sender list so that we receive your application!

The Additional Requirements (Optional)

Though your scores may not be perfect, there is still a way for you to apply for and receive Belgium scholarship funding. Although some universities will only accept students who have achieved specific GRE or TOEFL scores, many universities within Belgium are willing to overlook these requirements if you can demonstrate another significant talent or ability.

Things to keep in mind while applying for Belgium Scholarships

Students from all nationalities and language backgrounds are eligible to apply. You just need a university admission letter or proof of enrollment before you submit your application. The scholarship program is focused on giving international students an opportunity to study for a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree at one of any 13 participating universities across the country. Each student will be awarded 2,500 euros per year for each level of education if selected by Bel-Education Scholarship Committee. This means you can receive €7,500 per year towards your tuition fees if you plan on studying at the university level. Your status as an international student doesn’t preclude you from applying!
