The Department of State and IREX has announced the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program for students residing in African countries. The program invites all the talented students of Africa to be a part of the six-week internship program at universities and colleges in the united states of America. In this fellowship program, the African students will get a chance to share their experiences and learn new things from the different institutes in the united states of America.
It is the flagship program of the US Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative. Mandela Washington Fellowship is offering students of Africa and the sub-continents in order to facilitate the young youth in these countries through their different trainee programs.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
In order to be eligible for this fellowship program, all the candidates must have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria
- The ages of all the candidates for this fellowship program must be from 20 to 35 before the deadline, although ages 21-24 will also be considered in exceptional cases.
- Applicants must not be US citizens or resing in the united states of America.
- Students must be eligible for a J-1 visa from unites states of America
- The family member of any candidate should not be serving n any government institute of America, should not be a job holder in unites states of America.
- Candidates should be proficient in English in order to communicate with other colleagues and staff of the host institute.
