A Brief Overview
The Dalarna University (Dalarnas högskola) is a university in Sweden’s southern province of Dalarna. The university itself is an amalgamation of 14 different schools—six in Falun, two in Borlänge, two in Örebro, one each in Säter, Mora and Leksand—that were formed by a federation of colleges.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for DUS you must be a Swedish or Nordic citizen, or a citizen of another country who has applied for permanent residence in Sweden. To qualify as Swedish, you need to have lived in Sweden on a long-term basis with continuous residence during your entire education. If you’re applying from abroad, you must also have lived there for at least three years between age 16 and 27 without losing contact with Sweden for more than two consecutive years.
Application Process
To apply for Dalarna University Scholarship 2023, you must fill out and submit an application. The form is relatively easy: simply fill in your name, email address, home address, etc., attach an updated academic record (which will be verified) with at least two letters of recommendation from teachers or other staff members that can testify as to your merits, explain why you want to attend college in Dalarna if accepted, etc. Contact information for someone at 2023 should also be included if possible.

Scholarships Offered
The Dalarna University Scholarships 2023 are available for new students, i.e. those who have never enrolled in higher education. The scholarship includes free tuition for two years at Dalarna University, as well as 100% grants for living expenses totaling SEK 36,500 per year. Scholarships are not available retroactively—i.e., students who already receive funding from other sources cannot receive extra money from these scholarships.
Financial Aid At Dalarna University
The process for applying for financial aid can be confusing, but it’s worth your time. The amount of financial aid available at universities across Sweden is limited, and not all students are eligible. Some grants have a limited number of recipients; some have specific criteria that must be met.
For example, you may only be eligible if you’re a full-time student living off campus or paying high rent costs in Stockholm or Gothenburg, or if you live with parents who make less than $20,000/year. If your parents earn more than $40k/year or if they help pay for things like housing, tuition isn’t likely to cover 100% of your expenses as a freshman at Dalarna U.
Other Important Information
Students who have previously applied for scholarships from Dalarna University can now apply for a special scholarship that is limited in quantity. This scholarship is open to students in Sweden who are currently enrolled in a higher education program. Students studying at educational institutions outside of Sweden can also apply, but will be assessed on an individual basis by means of an interview.
In order to apply, students must have strong grades and pass their courses with high scores. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate engagement both inside and outside of their classroom through clubs or sports teams, volunteer work, or other extracurricular activities. The university encourages all interested parties to submit their application as soon as possible—the deadline is May 1st 2023.

Do I have to reapply every year?
No, you don’t. As long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement, you’re automatically eligible for one scholarship per academic year. For example, if you receive a $10,000 scholarship in January of 2023, that would cover your tuition for 2023.
But what about expenses beyond tuition?
Good question! To cover these costs—i.e., books and living expenses—you can either apply for other awards/scholarships or take out loans (which should be addressed in your business plan!). If I do get a scholarship from Dalarna University.
